Congress Adds 26 Synthetic Chemicals to Controlled Substances Act

DEA News:
 
The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) today commended House and Senate negotiators for agreeing on legislation to control 26 synthetic drugs under the Controlled Substances Act.
 
These drugs include those commonly found in products marketed as “K2” and “Spice.”
 
The addition of these chemicals to Schedule I of the Controlled Substances Act will be included as part of S. 3187, the Food and Drug Administration Safety and Innovation Act.
 
Schedule I substances are those with a high potential for abuse; have no medical use in treatment in the United States;

June 7 at 7:30 a.m. / Police charged Cory Kershner, 23, of Los Alamos with criminal damage to property at 3301 Canyon Road and issued him a summons to appear in court. The estimated damage is less than $1,000.

June 7 at 12:08 p.m. / A 43-year-old Los Alamos woman reported damage to her property on Casa Grande Drive. The estimated loss is less than $1,000.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) and the State Border Guard of Latvia (SBG) Friday announced the commissioning of specialized radiation detection equipment at the Freeport of Riga, in an effort to prevent the illicit trafficking of nuclear and other radioactive materials.

Police Probe Jamie Lee Ireland Death

Los Alamos Police Department News:

On May 20, the Consolidated Dispatch Center received a call that 28-year-old Jamie Ireland of Los Alamos had sustained injuries after an accidental fall at 802 9th St.

Los Alamos Fire Department was dispatched to the scene and transported Ireland to Los Alamos Medical Center.

Ireland was subsequently transported to St. Vincent’s Hospital in Santa Fe.

On May 21, the Los Alamos Police Department was notified by personnel at St. Vincent’s that the injuries sustained by Ireland were serious and potentially fatal.
