NM State Police Capture Colorado Robbery Suspect

MORA COUNTY –  At around 1:30 p.m., Nov. 9, the New Mexico State Police was alerted to a vehicle pursuit traveling south on Interstate 25 from Colorado into New Mexico.

Juan Moises Chavez, 30, of Colorado Springs, Colo., was the suspect in an armed robbery and was actively fleeing from the Huerfano County Sheriff’s Office out of Walsenburg, Colo.

As the Silver Chevrolet SUV driven by Chavez entered New Mexico, officers from New Mexico State Police District 2 Las Vegas intercepted and took over the pursuit.

Road Work On Jemez Ranger District

SFNF News:

SANTA FE – The USDA Forest Service will be installing cattle guards on Forest Road 105 (Sulfur Creek Road) and Forest Road 106 (Thompson Ridge Road) during the week of Nov. 12. 

These roads will be impassible from approximately 9:30 a.m. to no later than 5 p.m. when this work is being conducted.

Anticipated schedule and locations:

  • Wednesday, Nov. 14 – Forest Road 105, just north of the Elk Valley residential development; and
  • Thursday, Nov. 15 – Forest Road 106, just north of the junction of Forest Roads 105 and 106, which will impact the Thompson Ridge residential development.

Today is Veterans Day, an official United States public holiday observed annually Nov. 11, to honor military veterans who served in the United States Armed Forces.

It coincides with other holidays celebrated in other countries that mark the anniversary of the end of World War I; major hostilities of World War I were formally ended at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918, when the Armistice with Germany went into effect.

NMSP: Statewide Child Support Warrant Operation

The New Mexico State Police (NMSP) was tasked Nov. 1 with a statewide Human Services Division Child Support Warrant Roundup.
 

During the operation, 48 individuals who had outstanding arrest warrants for not paying child support were arrested.

 
Due to the size of the operation and the amount of warrants to serve, NMSP worked with the following agencies:
  • Albuquerque Prisoner Transport Center;
  • Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office;
  • Chavez County Sheriff’s Office;
