Applications Now Open For 2026-27 Young Voices Season

Registration is open for the Young Voices of the Santa Fe Opera, which was created in January of 2008 to encourage, nurture and guide high school students exhibiting talent, desire and potential for singing classical music.

Program participants receive voice lessons and musical coaching by the Santa Fe Opera’s music staff as well as training in diction, music theory and basic acting. LAAC Daytime Performance Series To Feature Jubal Feb. 11

The community is invited to join the Los Alamos Arts Council for its Daytime Performance Series featuring original music by Los Alamos folk artist Jubal.
The free concert is noon-1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11 in Fuller Lodge. 
Jubal is described as “a western film, a stranger in a strange land, a Jack Russell terrier, and a book of songs. Taylor Kress is the writer and singer for Jubal, but the act has taken many different versions over the years. Hailing from East Tennessee, their music has its roots in the folk songs and sounds of Appalachia.”

There really was a peanut gallery on opening day of the New Mexico Legislature. It was the place to be.

While too many lawmakers made ho-hum announcements and introduced an elephantine list of guests, students from Eastern New Mexico University staffed a booth with complimentary packages of Hampton Farms peanuts. They are a staple of the Portales area’s economy and the best-known peanuts in politics since Jimmy Carter ran for president.

Forty feet from the booth, Eastern’s excellent Greyhound Sound Marching Band took over the Capitol Rotunda. Read More

High Desert Winds Santa Fe will present its Winter 2026 Concert at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 16, at St. Francis Auditorium, New Mexico Museum of Art, 107 W. Palace Ave. in Santa Fe.

This concert features High Desert Wind’s own Leroy Medina, soloist on Ewazen’s Concerto for Bassoon and Wind Orchestra.

  • O Magnum Mysterium by Lauridsen;
  • The Wind and the Lion by Goldsmith;

The Los Alamos Arts Council (LAAC) is hosting a concert featuring local favorites Tjett Gerdom and Jennifer Perezon on Friday, Feb. 13, in historic Fuller Lodge.
