It may seem outlandish to say, but Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart wasn’t some stuffy, snooty, highbrow musician in the 1700s. He was a rock star.

2026 Sonata Contest Results And Fuller Lodge Performance

On Feb. 21, the local music community celebrated a remarkable showcase of young talent as the annual Sonata Contest was jointly hosted by the Santa Fe Music Teachers Association (SFMTA) and the Los Alamos Music Teachers Association (LAMTA).

A total of 36 dedicated piano students participated in the event, each performing rigorous sonata movements that tested both their technical precision and artistic expression. The SaxAtomix To Present Winter Melodies Feb. 25

The SaxAtomix will present Winter Melodies at the White Rock Senior Center during noon lunch on Wednesday, Feb. 25. 

Music will range from Mozart to Mancini. Also included are humorous takes on Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony and the William Tell Overture. Rounding out the program are Spanish, Irish, and Jazz numbers.
