Hey gang. Sorry to be absent for a few weeks but work and massive amounts of pollen really gave me a bit of a time crunch and brain freeze.

This week I’m going to cover some shorter topics and next week I will have a longer essay on “The Problems and Perils of “Good TV” and Participatory Television;” my thoughts on the general changes I’ve seen in the TV landscape – both good and bad.

LA Beer Co-op: Beer and Movie @ Reel Deal Thursday

The Los Alamos Beer Co-op will host a Beer and Movie night at the Reel Deal Movie Theater featuring women in the beer industry:
  • Reel Deal Theater Thursday April 18. Doors open at 6:30 p.m./movie at 7 p.m.
  • Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at door
  • Alana Jones, GM of Santa Fe Brewing will speak briefly on her experiences in the brewing enterprise
  • Santa Fe Brewing will be serving their beer – $5
  • Ticket includes a raffle for items donated by SFB and the LA Coop market.

Coro de Cámara Debuts New Artistic Director

CORO DE CAMARA News:

Local chamber chorus Coro de Cámara has announced the selection of it new artistic director.

Andrew Alegria will debut his first concert with the group at 7 p.m. Friday, April 19 at Hill Episcopal Church in Los Alamos and 4 p.m. Sunday, April 21 at Church of the Holy Faith in Santa Fe.

His debut concert with Coro de Cámara is entitled “The American Sound” with works by Charles Ives, Aaron Copland and Moses Hogan among others, and features Barber’s Agnus Dei

The Todd Tijerina Trio will showcase its fierce and unique brand of R&B and blues 7-11 p.m. at Pajarito Brewpub Saturday, April 13. Admission is $5 at the door.

The Dixon Community Players present Holly’s Follies 2: A Tribute to Gershwin this weekend.

It is an original production conceived and directed by Holly Haas. Featuring songs, music and dance from more than 20 Gershwin shows and movies.

The Dixon production features several Los Alamos residents including Jeff Favorite, Rose Corrigan and George Spillman.

The Los Alamos Choral Society is celebrating its 70th anniversary with an active Spring schedule.

The Choral Society is directed by Dr. Mary Badarak and Cindy Little is the piano accompanist. At 4 p.m. Sunday, May 5, at the Duane Smith Auditorium, the Choral Society will join with the Los Alamos Community Winds and the Los Alamos High School Choirs in a performance of Beethoven’s 9th Symphony.
