Mesa Library Free Film ‘Days Of Heaven’ Thursday

Days of Heaven, starring a young Richard Gere, Brooke Adams and Sam Shepard, is the latest offering in the Mesa Public Library Free Film Series, showing 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the Upstairs Meeting Rooms.

This highly-acclaimed film was directed by Terrence Malick, who won the prize for Best Director at the Cannes film festival in 1979. The film won Academy Awards for Best Cinematography and Best Costume Design, and was nominated for awards in Best Sound and Best Music, Original Score.

LAFD Launches ‘Movember’ To Raise Funds To Combat Men’s Health Issues

The Los Alamos Fire Department is raising funds and awareness for men’s health issues such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer and poor mental health. Throughout  ‘Movember’ LAFD personnel are growing mustaches and collecting donations for The Movember Foundation’s goal of stopping men from dying too young. Judge Orders Consolidation Of Sheriff-Related Cases

Judge Francis J. Mathew has granted an unopposed motion to consolidate two ongoing First Judicial Court cases involving Los Alamos County Sheriff Marco Lucero. The order was filed Oct. 23 in Court.

The first case was filed against Los Alamos County Council by Lucero Aug. 29 asking the Court for a writ of mandamus directing the Council to fulfill its statutory responsibility to fund the Office of the Sheriff adequately for him to perform what he believes are his statutory duties.
