Breaking News: Hilltop House Hotel Goes Into Foreclosure

The financially troubled Hilltop House Hotel at 400 Trinity Dr., has gone into foreclosure.
Court documents obtained by the Los Alamos Daily Post indicate that Los Alamos National Bank filed for foreclose proceedings on its mortgage with the hotel Oct. 19.
Defendents named in the case include the Hilltop House LLC, Hilltop House Hotel Inc., Ronald Selvage, Hilltop House Spa LLC and Kim Selvage.

Fake Online Banking Security Alert Advisory
LANB News:
Los Alamos National Bank DID NOT send out a “security alert” email that arrived in people’s In Boxes this morning.
LANB Chief Technology Officer Paul Cook said the email is fake and has a fake address.
“We never send out an email asking customers for their email and password – we would never do that,” Cook said.
Cook advises anyone receiving the email to simply ignore it and delete it.

Students at Pinon Elementary School in Los Alamos wanted to do something to help the victims of Hurricane Sandy.

Valles Caldera Trust Identifies Visitor Center Site / Final Environmental Impact Statement Released

Jemez Springs — The Valles Caldera Trust (Trust) has released the Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS) for the proposed Public Access and Use Plan (PAUP.)
The plan aims to expand visitor access while preserving the natural and cultural resources of the Valles Caldera National Preserve.
In June of this year, the Trust opened a 60-day public comment period on a Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) that featured six public access alternatives.
A total of 125 written comments from agencies, pueblos, organizations and individuals were submitted.

Letter to the Editor: Vaccines – Do the Rights of the Many Outweigh the Rights of the Few?
In response to recent concerns voiced about vaccine rights, this is a case of the rights of the many vs. the rights of the few.
Vaccines only work to preserve the general population if “herd immunity” is achieved, when vaccines are administered to a high percentage (85 percent.)
With fewer parents vaccinating their children whether due to personal choice, safety concerns or greater awareness of the health risks to a susceptible child, this high percentage is not being met in some areas and outbreaks have occurred.
