Local Boy Confesses to Lighting Stable Fires
LAPD News:
Los Alamos Police report that three local boys ranging in age from 10 to 12 are implicated in three small fires started today at the Los Alamos Horse Stables on North Mesa.
One of the boys has confessed and all three boys have been referred to the juvenile probation officer.
Police began investigating the fires that broke out within minutes of each other this afternoon.

Police Probe Suspicious Fires at Horse Stables
LAPD News:
Los Alamos Police are investigating three small fires that broke out within minutes of each other this afternoon at the Los Alamos Horse Stables on North Mesa.
“It seems too much of a coincidence in the way the fires broke out and the close proximity to each other,” Capt. Randy Foster said. “The largest of the three fires grew to about 10 feet by 10 feet in size.”
Foster added that the fires were put out quickly and no animals or property were harmed.

Bear Springs Fire Update June 5 (Noon)
The Los Alamos Daily Post spoke to the Santa Fe National Forest Public Affairs Office to obtain an update on the Bear Springs Fire.
As of 10:20 a.m. today, the fire has grown to 200 acres. Forest Road 266 is being used as a barrier.
The fire is burning hottest at the north east portion of the fire. There are some forest service unused historic structures in the area.
Protection has been provided to these resources. Firefighters are making progress, but the fire is still at 0 percent contained.

Today is Primary Election Day – There is No Wrong Place to VOTE
Today, June 5 is Primary Election Day and Voter Convenience Centers (polling locations), are set up across Los Alamos County and available to all registered voters regardless of precinct.
Voter Convenience Centers are designed to give voters more flexibility on Election Day since they are not constrained to a specific polling location.
Voter Convenience Centers are open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. today at:
- Los Alamos Community Building, 475 20th St.
- White Rock Fire Station #3, 129 N.M. 4

DPU Explains Brief Power Outages
DPU News:
A burned jumper at West Diamond Drive and Trinity Drive caused a power outage at 4:15 p.m. Monday for about 100 customers in the Western area, according to officials at the Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities.
Elsewhere on the circuit, recloser activity caused momentary power blinks, which were reported from customers at the Ski Hill, Mesa Public Library and other sites.
Power was restored at 5 p.m. to those areas
At 4 a.m. today, an underground line fault caused a power outage on Cheryl and Connie streets in White Rock, affecting about 40 people.
