In support of the Trinity on the Hill-sponsored house-building mission trips to Juarez, Mexico, the House of Hope women are hosting a pot pie, “Pie in the Sky” Fundraiser Dinner from 5:30-7 p.m., Thursday July 12 in Kelly Hall.

The menu includes chicken and vegetable pot pies, salad and ice cream. (There also is a vegetarian option and a gluten-free option is available.)

Tickets are $10/adult and $5/child. Vacation Bible School and Rainbow Trail Day Camp kids eat free with a paying adult.

A special bonus at the event is a silent pie auction, with specialty homemade pies being donated by House of Hope team members and local restaurants.

“We wanted to do a dinner that fit with the Sky theme, and we also wanted something that was nutritious and a little bit different than the usual lasagna or hamburger dinner,” said Chairperson Lynn Finnegan. “We came up with “Pie in the Sky” for dinner and then added on the dessert pies for auction because so many people love pie and it is reminiscent of summer time and picnics with fresh-baked pies.”

The Juarez mission teams welcome newcomers of all walks of life to join them on their home-building trips to Juarez.

No church affiliation is required.

“We have never felt threatened or unsafe in this troubled city because our builds are all away from the ‘hot spots’ and we take necessary precautions,” Finnegan said.
