You must have a pizza stone (also called a baking stone) for the inside of the oven. The only way you are going to get a crispy crust and the right pizza taste is if you can put a lot of heat to the crust in a fast way (pizza stone.)

A book signing for the Encyclopedia of Santa Fe and Northern New Mexico, written by Mark H. Cross is set for 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 26 at Otowi Station in Los Alamos.
Cross also will be interviewed at 8:30 a.m. Thursday on KRSN 1490 AM.
The Encyclopedia of Santa Fe and Northern New Mexico is a catalog of the people, places, arts, cultures and colloquialisms unique to the City Different and the Land of Enchantment.

DOE Hosts Public Hearing Tonight at Holiday Inn Express
DOE News:
The Department of Energy is holding public hearings on a Surplus Plutonium Disposition Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement.
The hearings are scheduled for:
- Los Alamos on Tuesday, Aug. 21 at the Holiday Inn Express, 60 Entrada Drive;
- Santa Fe on Thursday, Aug. 23 at the Courtyard by Marriott, 3347 Cerrillos Road; and
- Carlsbad on Aug. 28 hearing at the Pecos River Village Conference Center, 711 Muscatel Avenue.
The hearings will be 5:30-8 p.m. with a presentation beginning at 6:30 p.m. and public comments beginning around 6:45 p.m.
The comment period ends Sept. 25.

NMDOT Sponsors Statewide Child Safety Seat Clinic

SANTA FE–The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) is pleased to sponsor a statewide child safety seat clinic from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 25.
The clinics will take place in four cities and six different locations as part of the “100 Days and Nights of Summer” campaign that was kicked off late last month.
The clinics are held on a first-come, first-served basis and the service is free and open to the public.

N.M. 599 Bridge Work Starts Aug. 20
NMDOT is alerting motorists to bridge work starting on N.M. 599 on the northwest side of Santa Fe.
The project, which involves grinding, overlay, and joint replacement work, starts Monday, Aug. 20 and will be completed in two to three weeks, weather permitting.
The N.M. 599 bridges being worked on are over Via Abajo at mile marker 7.4, Camino La Tierra at mile marker 10.1, and Avenida Rincon at mile marker 13.9.
The work is being performed by two NMDOT contractors, Meridian and Villalobos Construction Company.

Diabetes Support Group Organizing

Planned Steam Plant Outage Underway at LANL
LANL News:
Los Alamos National Laboratory’s Utilities and Institutional Facilities Division began a planned steam outage for maintenance at 7 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 19.
The planned steam outage is scheduled to conclude at 7 p.m., Aug. 25.
The centralized steam distribution system must be shut down for required maintenance of equipment, including replacing and upgrading key components of the Laboratory’s utility system.
During the outage, there will be no heating and no process steam available in building systems served by the Steam Plant.

Students and staff were evacuated from Los Alamos Middle School today after a contractor operating a backhoe nicked a gas line.
“The call about the gas leak came in at 1:17 p.m. and LAFD and LAPD were on scene within four minutes,” said Los Alamos Deputy Fire Chief Justin Grider. “The contractor did shut off the gas prior to our arrival. Everybody was evacuated from the school in a safe and secure manner per protocol.” Read More
