Thank you Christine Chandler for your views on education. Since the PED is a cabinet position I’m afraid if Steve Pearce is elected governor we will have eight more years of the PED that we have now.
 
All three of my children were educated here. I have been a volunteer at the Chamisa Elementary School library for 38 of the last 48 years. I will be voting for you because you care about education as much as I do.

NMSP Probe Rio Arriba County Sheriff’s Office Shooting

NMSP News:

Deputies with the Rio Arriba County Sheriff’s Office (RASO) were involved early this morning in a police shooting. The New Mexico State Police Investigations Bureau was contacted to investigate this shooting incident.

Preliminary information indicates that around 1 a.m. today, RASO received a call about a fight in progress at the Jemez Electric Company on US 84/285 in Rio Arriba County. RASO deputies responded to Jemez Electric and found no sign of a fight in progress.

Young people are invited to the Good News Club, an after-school program that runs from the end of school to 5 p.m. at various schools.
 
Good News Club is a ministry of Child Evangelism Fellowship in which trained teachers meet with groups of children in schools, homes, community centers, churches, apartment complexes, just about anywhere the children can easily and safely meet with their parent’s permission.

County Issues Scam Alert

Scam Alert:

The Los Alamos County Social Services Division is reporting that they have received information that phone calls are being made to local residents using a Caller ID that displays as being the main phone number for the Social Services Office (662-8068).

The caller is offering a deal to lower the resident’s tax rates. Social Services staff are not involved in any solicitation of this kind.

In phone scams, the Caller is looking to gain personal and financial information. They may be making calls with a Caller ID that looks as if it is a local number, or even use local names and titles to try Read More

Udall, Heinrich, Luján Announce $1.48 Million For Los Alamos Electric Buses

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today U.S. Senators Tom Udall and Martin Heinrich and U.S. Representative Ben Ray Luján announced that the Department of Transportation has awarded Los Alamos Atomic City Transit $1.485 million through the Low or No Emission Grant Program to purchase new zero-emission battery electric buses to replace the City’s existing diesel fleet.

Atomic City Transit offers transit service in both Los Alamos and White Rock, ADA complementary paratransit, and a shuttle service to Bandelier National Monument during peak visitor season.
