Udall, Heinrich, Luján Announce $1.48 Million For Los Alamos Electric Buses

CONGRESSIONAL News:

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today U.S. Senators Tom Udall and Martin Heinrich and U.S. Representative Ben Ray Luján announced that the Department of Transportation has awarded Los Alamos Atomic City Transit $1.485 million through the Low or No Emission Grant Program to purchase new zero-emission battery electric buses to replace the City’s existing diesel fleet.

Atomic City Transit offers transit service in both Los Alamos and White Rock, ADA complementary paratransit, and a shuttle service to Bandelier National Monument during peak visitor season.

FBI: Felon From Las Cruces Charged With Violating Federal Firearms Laws

ALBUQUERQUE Wednesday, a U.S. Magistrate Judge sitting in Las Cruces, found probable cause to support a criminal complaint charging Dominic C. Garcia, 28, of Las Cruces, with violating the federal firearms laws by being a felon in possession of a firearm.
 
Garcia was remanded into custody pending trial, which has yet to be scheduled.
 
The FBI arrested Garcia Aug. 14, 2018, in Las Cruces after Task Force Officers of the FBI’s Southern New Mexico Safe Streets Violent Gang Task Force came upon him while seeking to execute an arrest warrant for another individual.

Westbound N.M. 502 (Main Hill Road) leading to Los Alamos will be closed to all traffic Saturday, Aug. 25 (see map in purple). The hairpin ramp connecting N.M. 4 to westbound N.M. 502 will also be closed (see map in blue).

These traffic control measures are to allow completion of mill and inlay work on an approximately one mile stretch of N.M. 502. Signage will be posted to detour traffic around the closures via East Jemez Road (truck route).
