The china is being unpacked and the aroma of sweets and savories is starting to waft from the kitchen. It’s time to get out your hat and gloves and bring your appetite! Trinity on the Hill Episcopal Church will host its Annual Tea and Fashion Show 2:30 p.m., Saturday.

This fundraiser for the church’s mission team, will also feature musical entertainment and a silent auction.

Members of the “House of Hope” team will travel to Mexico next spring to build a house and serve a community meal in one of the impoverished colonias on the outskirts of Juárez. House of Hope began in 2005 with the formation of an ecumenical all-women’s team and has expanded to include co-ed teams and partnerships with other churches. To date, the teams have built 16 houses and have been hosting the Tea and Fashion Show since 2010.

Team member George Marsden has wielded a hammer in Juárez for many years and enjoys being one of the models for the fashion show. All the outfits in the show are from the church’s “Shop on the Corner” thrift store and are available for purchase.

This year’s show will have a special surprise twist! “Modeling at the Tea and Fashion Show is always lots of fun,” Marsden said, “but my favorite is seeing the groups of friends and all the mother-daughter-granddaughter trios year after year.”

Tea organizer Claire Singleton said, “I love attending such an elegant occasion with delicious, locally-sourced food and good company, all right here on my doorstep!”

Many attendees, both men and women, enjoy “putting on the Ritz,” but no dress code is enforced!

Trinity on the Hill is at 3900 Trinity Dr. (corner of Trinity and Diamond Drives). Tickets are $25 for adults and $10 for children 10 and younger and can be purchased in advance (recommended) by calling the church office, 505.662.5107 or, if space is available, at the door. Gluten-free options are available upon request.
