Cimarron To Complete Scenic Byway Project

SANTA FE New Mexico MainStreet and New Mexico Resiliency Alliance announced that Cimarron Alive has received a $12,500 Resilient Communities Fund grant to support the completion of the Scenic Byway Trail project along U.S. 64.
 
The byway will include historical displays along five blocks that serve as a major tourist attraction and pedestrian access point between Cimarron’s New and Old Town sections. SFNF: Slight Increase In Cueva Fire Behavior

SFNF News:
 
SANTA FE Outflow winds from a thunderstorm increased fire behavior on the Cueva Fire on the Coyote Ranger District of the Santa Fe National Forest (SFNF), adding an additional 108 acres and moderately increasing smoke to the west and south of the fire.
 
The SFNF took advantage of the lightning-caused Cueva Fire to add low-intensity fire to the ground to reduce fuel loadings and create a more fire-resilient landscape.

CHRIS VALENE HOLLIS Feb. 14, 1937 – Aug. 19, 2019

Chris Valene Hollis passed away in Los Alamos, New Mexico on Monday, August 22, 2019.

She was born on February 14, 1937 and was the only child of Jack and Dalma Hinds King. Chris lived in Lawton, Oklahoma until her graduation in 1957 from Cameron State Agricultural College with an Associates in Arts degree in Home Economics. Following a summer working at Disneyland, she attended Oklahoma State University until her marriage to William Wesley Hollis on December 27, 1958.

In a practice that has occured every month for more than three decades, a group of brilliant retirees from the Weapons Group at Los Alamos National Laboratory gathered Wednesday for lunch and laughter. The group of 18 members ranges in age from the mid 60s to mid 90s. They meet at a couple of different restaurants around town and last Wednesday gathered at the Blue Window Bistro on Central Avenue.
