Los Alamos County Manager Harry Burgess presents his proposed budget to County Council Monday night in Council Chambers. Los Alamos Fire Chief Troy Hughes and Management Analyst of Finance and Budget Heather Garcia present the fire department’s $30,360,474 budget Monday night in Council Chambers. Council voted 7-0 to tentatively approve the budget. In the presentation, Hughes reported a number of acheivements in his department including continous improvement to EMS delivery through collaboration with other jurisdictions nationwide. Deputy Manager Steve Lynne presents the County Council’s 2018 proposed budget, which totals $389,546 Monday night in Council Chambers.

Councilor Rick Reiss suggested adding a budget option for a one-time consultant-driven study for a utility financial assessment and for funding options. He added he would like to see some members of County Council, the Department of Public Utlities (DPU) staff, members of the Board of Public Utilities and County staff involved in this effort. County Clerk Naomi Maestas, left, and Chief Deputy Clerk Adrianna Ortiz present their office’s $602,603 proposed budget to County Council Monday night in Council Chambers. Mainstreet Auditions For ‘Acting May Be Murder’

Espanola’s Mainstreet Theater is hosting auditions for its upcoming production of “Acting May Be Murder.” Auditions are 6:30-8 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at 500 Paseo de Onate in Espanola.

Earth Day Activities Include Local Solar Array Tours

A tour of the County’s solar array Saturday morning as part of Earth Day activities shows rows of solar panels constructed in 2011. It was explained during the tour that there is one 400 kilowatt panel, five that emit 100 kilowatts, and 10 that that emit 10 kilowatts. In total, the array generates one megawatt. Read More
