UNM-Los Alamos celebrated its 31st annual Graduation Convocation on May 10, 2012. Five students received bachelor’s degrees, 39 received associate degrees, 5 received academic certificates and 8 students received General Educational Development Diplomas.

OBITUARY: Edna E. Marx
Edna E. Marx Aug. 9, 1920 – May 8, 2012
On May 8, 2012, Edna E. Marx passed away at the age of 91 at Los Alamos Medical Center. Edna was born August 9, 1920 in Arena, Wisconsin, as the only child of Oran McIntosh and Charlotte Porter. She attended East Side High School and at 16 she met her future husband Joseph E. Marx. At 22, they married and that same year welcomed their first daughter, Charlotte Anne. Over the next four years they welcomed two more daughters, Mary Anne and Barbara Anne. Young Life Golf Tournament Helps Teens Go to Camp

Young Life Los Alamos is hosting its second annual golf tournament May19 at the Los Alamos Golf Course.
It’s a Four Man Scramble Format golf tournament in which participants can create their own 4-some or be placed on a team.
All monies raised will go to benefit kids going to camp this summer.
This charitable event includes dinner, a raffle and prizes for the cost of $85 per golfer.
“It costs about $500 to send a teenager to summer camp for a week,” said Young Life Area Director Ryan Gilbert. “With the economy the way it is, we are able to offset that cost for families in need.”

Traffic continues to be on the south side of NM4 between Rover Blvd and Grand Canyon/Pajarito Road. Speed limit within the construction area is 30 mph. Nature Center Would Enhance Community
Letter to the Editor:
I feel that the Pajarito Environmental Education Center has proven the value to the community and the acceptance of the community for a nature center.
The current location at the Little Valley/UNM-LA building on Orange Street has served a useful purpose in demonstrating these values to the community.
It has acted as a nursery for environmental ideas, outdoor student classes, relevant daytime and evening lectures, adult programs of every description, support for local groups with similar focus, and collection/cataloguing of our native flora and fauna.
