Since 2018, Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL), in collaboration with the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), has operated a system to counter all unauthorized unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) over its restricted airspace and an additional FAA designated “No Drone Zone”.

Connect New Mexico Landmark Broadband Infrastructure Pilot Program Is Completed

STATE News:

ALBUQUERQUE — The Office of Broadband Access and Expansion (OBAE) has announced that a landmark broadband infrastructure project in a remote subdivision in Chaves County is complete, providing high-speed internet to 52 rural homes in the Cherry Decker subdivision near the community of Hagerman.

With the project completed, these residents can now sign up for high-speed internet service.

Hermit’s Peak/Calf Canyon Claims Office In Mora Reopens After Power Outage Closure

SANTA FE — The Hermit’s Peak/Calf Canyon Claims Office reopened Tuesday after closing Monday because of an area-wide power outage.

Power was restored Monday afternoon after being out most of the day in Pecos and much of Mora and San Miguel counties.

Lt. Gov. Howie Morales, State Dignitaries Celebrate Rural Student Broadband Connections In Silver City

Howie Morales, state dignitaries, TWN Communications, Silver Consolidated Schools and the New Mexico Office of Broadband Access and Expansion (OBAE) will take part in a ribbon cutting ceremony at Silver High School at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 7 to launch hundreds of broadband connections that will provide high-speed internet to rural students.

The San Ildefonso Pueblo is erecting and will operate this new cell tower that has appeared recently in Totavi. This is part of Los Alamos County’s major Community Broadband Network (CBN) project. Construction on the County-owned, open-access fiber system is planned to start this summer. Key to this project is an 11-mile ‘middle mile’ fiber link with San Ildefonso Pueblo, providing critical redundancy off the hill.
