Chief Judge Barbara Vigil of the First Judicial District Court of New Mexico will hear arguments at 4 p.m. today (May 31) from publicly-funded PRC Candidate Cynthia B. Hall and others concerning whether New Mexico Secretary of State Dianna J. Duran should release matching funds as required by state law.

Hall hopes for a decision today on the Temporary Restraining Order and Amended Petition for Writ of Mandamus she filed over the last week.

A free shuttle service operated by Atomic City Transit is the only way in which visitors will have access to Bandelier National Monument this summer through November, Park Superintendent Jason Lott said.

New Mexico Receiving Nearly $1.6 Million for AmeriCorps Jobs

WASHINGTON – U.S. Sen. Tom Udall, D-N.M. announced Wednesday that New Mexico will receive nearly $1.6 million to support AmeriCorps projects across the state.

The AmeriCorps grant comes from the Corporation for National and Community Service and will fund more than 282 positions in areas such as education, health and wellness and youth service programs.

The Whitewater-Baldy Complex Fire has grown to 170,272 acres, which makes it the largest fire in New Mexico history. Last summer’s Las Conchas fire burned 156,293 acres.

The fire has continued to spread in all directions as it remains active on more than 95 percent of the perimeter.

Firefighters are working on the line around the fire to provide the buffer needed to minimize the spread.

Nearly 30,000 motorcycle riders rallied at Red River over the Memorial Day weekend.

The annual springtime event jump starts the tourist season in the Northern New Mexico and Southern Colorado region.
