Preliminary numbers in the 2019 election are trickling in this evening at election central inside the Los Alamos County Municipal Building.

The County Clerk’s Office reports that 4,432 people cast ballots in this election out of the 14,496 eligible to vote or 31 percent. Read More

What is a “banana republic”?
 
According to my understanding, it is a Central or South American country that has an unstable government frequently established by a coup d’etat. Venezuela is a current example.
 
This could never happen here – or so I thought. Our constitutional form of government with peaceful transitioning of government prevents that. Every two years, the people get a chance to change the government or in four years or six, in some instances. I thought we were safe.

Same Day Voter Registration Used by more than 2,000 New Mexicans

New Mexico Secretary of State Maggie Toulouse Oliver today released the voter turnout and same day voter registration numbers through the end of early voting for the regular local election.

These are unofficial numbers that reflect absentee and in-person voting for the 2019 regular local election from the start of early voting Oct. 8, 2019 through the date specified on the table below.
