2026 Los Alamos Film & Culture Festival April 17-19

After Mikheil Gabadize went on from the 2025 Los Alamos Film and Culture Festival to win two additional awards, it demonstrated that a small, local event had inspired people in several countries.

The volunteer-run and lead non-profit hopes to set the same good fortune in motion for 2026, once again at the spectacular SALA Los Alamos Event Center April 17-19.

SALA’s owner Allan Saenz  is honored to be hosting it at the event center and excited to partner with Sandy Jones again for this third-year festival that brings films from many different countries.

Española Humane To Host Community Open House April 25

ESPANOLA HUMANE News:

ESPANOLA, NM — Española Humane invites the community to celebrate a new era of accessible veterinary care at a special open house for its recently opened Española Humane Animal Clinic.

The event will take place from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 25, at 2126 El Llano Road in Ohkay Owingeh, across from the Española Municipal Airport.

Sheep Shearing Day Celebrates Northern New Mexico Traditions At Los Luceros April 12

Los Luceros Historic Site is hosting its annual Sheep Shearing Day in conjunction with Northern Rio Grande National Heritage Area’s Cultures and Creators festival.

Visitors can watch shearer Kerry Mower use traditional double-bow shears to remove wool from the site’s Navajo-Churro sheep from 9 a.m.–2 p.m., Sunday, April 12. As the wool is sheared, visitors can help clean and skirt the wool and learn from site staff about the importance of these sheep in New Mexico. Bags of fleece will be available for a small donation.
