Each year, thousands flock to New Mexico to visit and and experience the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta.

This year the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta runs through Oct. 9 and celebrates the event’s 50th anniversary.

“This phenomenon is the largest ballooning event on earth, the most photographed event on earth, and the largest annual international event held in the United States.” –AIBF

The Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) for Barranca Mesa Elementary is hosting its second annual Trick-or-Trot 5K Fun Run & Walk Saturday, Oct. 29 at Barranca Mesa Elementary School, 57 Loma del Escolar in Los Alamos.

The 5K starts at 9 a.m., and the 1-miler begins at 10 a.m.

Join Fort Selden Historic Site for their “Ghosts of the Past” moonlit tours, a new spin on their annual fall event from 4-9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8.

This year’s theme is “Death in New Mexico.” Tours will be offered every 10 minutes starting at 6 p.m. Tickets are $5, and you can purchase them ahead of time here.

There also will be music, food and fun ahead of the tours — and a 30-minute talk at 4:30 p.m. on Día de los Muertos, Halloween, and New Mexico.
