Rotary Hosts Accomplished Ultra Runner Blake Wood

LANL retiree and accomplished ultra runner Blake Wood spoke Sept. 8 at the Rotary Club of Los Alamos. 

As Wood told Rotarians, he has been fascinated for a long time “by Dorothy Hoard’s 2009 proposal for a trail, which runs the geologic rim of the Valles Caldera.” Hoard, a local author and historian and founder of Friends of Bandelier, passed away in 2014. In early May, Wood ran a 67-mile approximation of her proposed route in 25 hours.

The Department of Energy (DOE) National Nuclear Security Administration Los Alamos Field Office has issued a National Environmental Policy Act Categorical Exclusion (CX) for the modification and upgrade of the NM-4 and East Jemez Road intersection on Los Alamos National Laboratory lands owned by the DOE, within Santa Fe County, New Mexico.

School Air Filters ​To Be Upgraded Across New Mexico

SANTA FE — Many school buildings across New Mexico will get upgraded air filters in the coming weeks to ensure that students return to in-person learning in the safest possible environment, the Public Education Department announced Friday.

Happy Rock Left In Memory Of William Bernard 1921-2020

A happy rock is discovered Friday on Chamisa Street left in memory of William Bernard who died March 15, 2020. After serving honorably in the U.S. Merchant Marines during World War II, Bernard earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering and moved to town to work at Los Alamos National Laboratory until he retired in 1987. Power Issues Resolved In Denver Steels Neighborhood

Power issues caused by a crow are resolved as of 9 a.m. today in the Denver Steels neighborhood near Los Alamos High School. 

Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities received reports earlier this morning, Friday, Sept. 11, from customers that had no or low power.
