It’s time to start planning for this year’s Homecoming Parade, which is Friday, Sept. 16.

This year’s theme is “End the Elks”. The Los Alamos High School Varsity Football Team will host the Pojoaque Elks that evening at Sullivan Field.

Game time is 7 p.m. The parade begins at 2:30 p.m., starting at the Mari Mac Village parking lot, proceeding down Central Avenue to Rose Street. Judges will be seated outside the post office.

TAOS – The University of New Mexico-Taos and Rio Arriba County have received $190,000 to train 48 new EMT first-responders to effectively respond to drug overdoses and other scenarios related to opioid use disorder across rural northern New Mexico.

Los Alamos Students Perform Significantly Better Than State Average In Newly Released Spring Assessment Test Scores

LAPS News:

The New Mexico Public Education Department recently released student test data from the 2021-2022 school year. Students from around the state took these tests last spring in the subject areas of language arts, math and science.

This was the first year that the state used the New Mexico Measures for Student Success and Achievement (NM-MSSA). The scores this year will be used to establish baseline data on student achievement across the state.

The 9th Annual New Mexico Painters’ Exhibition at Highlands University’s Kennedy Hall will be on view 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., weekdays Sept. 11 to Oct. 31.

The opening reception is 4-7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 11. Although the gallery is not typically open weekends, the exhibition will be on view 9-11 a.m., Sept. 17 during the NMHU Homecoming parade.
