Smith Lobby Redesign Public Meeting Sept. 20

Los Alamos Public Schools invites the community to a public meeting 5:30-6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 20, to share their comments and questions about the Smith Auditorium Lobby Redesign at Los Alamos High School.

Lobby construction is tentatively planned to begin in the late spring of 2017. The lobby redesign is anticipated to be completed by November 2017.

LAPS has engaged FBT Architects for the redesign work. FBT has held several meetings with interested community users of Smith Auditorium to work out the Read More

EM’s New Video Series Tells The Stories Of Individual Cleanup Workers

WASHINGTON, D.C.  EM launched a new video series on its Facebook and YouTube sites taking viewers inside the activities of individual workers as they share their accomplishments and perspectives.
 
EM’s cleanup story is portrayed through the lens of workers in the “Day in the Life” videos, which will be released every other Thursday. The hashtag for the series is #dayinthelife.

The Los Alamos Middle School Cross Country team had a very successful second outing of the season at their race on Saturday.
 
The Academy of Technology and the Classics (ATC) hosted the Everybody Invite, in Santa Fe. The Los Alamos team of 22 girls and 48 boys competed against 14 other teams from northern New Mexico, in a 1.5 mile race. Typically in middle school, races are separated by grades, but at ATC the 7th and 8th graders are combined in one race.

NM Supreme Court To Hear Oral Arguments In Voting Rights Case Wednesday

The New Mexico Supreme Court will hear oral arguments at 9 a.m., Wednesday Sept. 14, in Santa Fe on whether the New Mexico Compilation Commission erred in not ordering that several constitutional amendments passed by a majority of voters in 2008, 2010 and 2014 be made a part of state law.

The Los Alamos Piecemakers is hosting its annual Quilt Market 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24 at Crossroads Bible Church at 97 East Road.
