Los Alamos Rotarian Mike Katko On Writing Pursuits
In honor of Rotary International Literacy Month, Los Alamos Rotarian Mike Katko recently described his pursuits in writing and read from his book of poetry, Skies and Other Things, and introduced his forthcoming novel, Big Medicine, Pretty Water. Katko, who is the oldest of seven children, was born in Spain. He served in the Vietnam War; was a construction worker; owned the popular Los Alamos restaurant, Tony’s Pizzeria; and was a school teacher and principal for 17 years. Broadway performer DS Magid and the Los Alamos County Library System have teamed up to present an evening of songs from classic Broadway musicals of the ‘40s,‘50s, and ‘60s.
The Singalong will be fun for everyone, with no solos, no rehearsals and no special skills needed.
DS Magid’s enthusiasm for all things theatrical has never waned, from her early career singing on Broadway, right through stints as a director, producer, musical director, and award-winning playwright. Read More
