A proclamation recognizing March 18-24 as Community Theatre Week was presented to Los Alamos Little Theatre Board Member Eric Bjorklund Tuesday night during the regular Los Alamos County Council meeting.
Councilor James Robinson read the proclamation, which stated:
WHEREAS: The performing arts are a vital and vibrant component of the quality of life in Los Alamos, enjoyed alike by all of its citizens; and
WHEREAS: Community theatre is a vigorous and widespread activity in Los Alamos, binding community spirit and enhancing its cultural experience; and
WHEREAS: On behalf of Theatre New Mexico, the Los Alamos Little Theatre, as part of its 75th Anniversary season, will be hosting the New Mexico Association of American Community Theatre Festival (AACTFest) and conference from March 21 – 24, 2019 in the Los Alamos County Performing Arts Center located at 1670 Nectar Street; and
WHEREAS: At the festival, a community theatre will be selected to represent New Mexico at the AACTFest Region 6 conference in Midland, Texas, from May 2-5, 2019;
NOW, THEREFORE, on behalf of the Council of the Incorporated County of Los Alamos, I do hereby proclaim the Week of March 18 – 24, 2019 as “COMMUNITY THEATRE WEEK” In Los Alamos and encourage our citizens to attend the events of AACTFest, especially the performances presented by all of the New Mexico community theatres participating in the festival.
