Daily Postcard: The young black bear that first began frequenting the developed area in Frijoles Canyon at Bandelier National Monument a few years ago is now grown and a mom with two cubs of her own. The park hopes she will teach her offspring the necessary wariness of humans that she learned only through several years of adverson techniques applied by diligent park rangers. The public is reminded that the survival of any wildlife, especially large wildlife like bears, in any park is largely dependent upon human visitors and park staff. SANTA FE New Mexico School for the Arts (NMSA) will now offer Creative Writing and Literature as a full Major, alongside current majors of Dance, Music, Theatre and Visual Arts, beginning fall 2019.
 
Applications for the inaugural cohort are open and 20 New Mexico 9th graders will be accepted into the program.

Roger Montoya Of Moving Arts Espanola Shares Program Success At Los Alamos Rotary Club Meeting

Roger Montoya, co-founder and artistic director of Moving Arts Espanola (MAE), spoke Tuesday at the Rotary Club of Los Alamos. Montoya described the growth and success of the nonprofit since it opened its doors in 2008 to the children and youth of the Española Valley and the surrounding communities. MAE provides ‘high quality, affordable performing and visual arts education’ plus free meals and academic support for ages 3-18.
