NMSA News:

SANTA FE New Mexico School for the Arts (NMSA) will now offer Creative Writing and Literature as a full Major, alongside current majors of Dance, Music, Theatre and Visual Arts, beginning fall 2019.

Applications for the inaugural cohort are open and 20 New Mexico 9th graders will be accepted into the program.

Applicants to NMSA are screened solely on measures of passion, promise and aptitude in the arts; formal arts training and academic background are not considered in the audition process. As a statewide residential school, NMSA accepts applicants from all 3 New Mexico congressional districts and offers housing for those that live too far away to commute to Santa Fe. As a public school with the mission of providing access, NMSA is tuition-free.

How to Apply:
  1. Go to nmschoolforthearts.org/apply and complete the application process.
  2. As part of the application, students will submit 5-8 pages of original work (excerpt from a longer piece such as a short story or novel, a collection of poems, an essay or journalistic piece, or a combination of any of these).

Application deadline is midnight, April 13, 2019
