Natasha Stojanovska Solo Piano Recital Friday

MUSIC News:

Sage Concert Series will hold its next event at 7 p.m. Friday, May 24 at the Unitarian Church of Los Alamos at 1738 N. Sage St.

Natasha Stojanovska, solo pianist, will again present a concert, playing selections of Eastern European piano music seldom heard in the States.

Stojanovska’s first UCLA Concert was a huge success with an overflow audience.

The concert is free but donations are gratefully accepted. Light refreshments will be served following the concert. Read More

The skies over the weekend above Overlook Park in White Rock were filled with kites for the annual Kite Festival sponosred by the Los Alamos Arts Council. The Arts Council has been sponsoring fun events in Los Alamos for the past 52 years. To learn more about the Arts Council, visit their open meeting at 6 p.m., June 1, at Fuller Lodge. Scenes From ‘They Changed The World: People Of The Manhattan Project’ Book Signing At Bradbury Museum

Author aj Melnick missed the signing Saturday for her book, ‘They Changed the World: People of the Manhattan Project’, due to illness. Pajarito Press publishers Nancy Bartlit and Mark Rayburn were on hand however, signing books at the Bradbury Science  Museum. They will transport books to Santa Fe so Melnick can sign them, then return them for pickup at the Bradbury. Hopefully, the book signing can be rescheduled at a future date. NHCC Childrens Bilingual Book Festival Image Shortlisted For The World Illustration Awards

ALBUQUERQUE The logo/image designed by Albuquerque artist Zahra Marwan for the 2019 National Hispanic Cultural Center (NHCC) Children’s Bilingual Book Festival has been shortlisted for the 2019 World Illustration Awards.
 
The image, titled, “Mi abuela tiene un caballo blanco/My grandma has a white horse,” was commissioned by the NHCC and Artful Life and is being considered under the “New Talent” category.

This shot of the Full Flower Blue Moon was taken about 3:40 a.m. Saturday in White Rock. A Blue Moon rarely appears blue in the sky, and the name actually has little to do with its color. Usually, a full moon occurs just once a month. Sometimes—about every three years or so—one month will have two full moons. This phenomenon is what is called a Calendrical Blue Moon.
