Los Alamos Hockey Girls Compete in Series

LAHA News:

Sunday, Nov. 11 at the Outpost Ice Arena in Albuquerque, four ice hockey teams composed entirely of girls from New Mexico, including two teams from Los Alamos Hockey Association (LAHA), came together to play a two-game series.

This is believed to be the first time four all New Mexico girls teams have played each other in one day.
 
The LAHA U12 Girls fell to the NMIce U12 Girls. The newly formed LAHA U14 Girls squad was bested by in-state rival New Mexico Mustangs U14.

Officials Request Funding For The Hive

County Working to Bring Commuter Plane to Los Alamos

Los Alamos County is holding meetings this week with New Mexico Airlines to bring a commuter airline service to Los Alamos.

The service will transport passengers to the Albuquerque Sunport.

Public Works Department Director Philo S. Shelton III said that this week’s meetings include discussing flight schedules and frequency of service.

Art Board Recommends Moving ‘Strange Trio’

The Art in Public Places Board will present its recommendation to Council at 7 p.m. in the Community Building today, Nov. 13, to re-locate the “Strange Trio” sculpture by Tommy Hicks to Overlook Park in White Rock. The sculpture used to be located between the former Los Alamos Police Station and Trinity Drive. It developed problems with the concrete base and has been in storage for approximately five years. State Transportation Commission Meeting in Carlsbad

Santa Fe – The StateTransportation Commission will hold its monthly meeting at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15 at the Pecos River Conference Center, 1711 Muscatel Ave. in Carlsbad.

Agenda items for the meeting include:

  • A request for additional $1,456,029 for the Transit and Rail budget
  • Additions and deletions from the State Highway System
  • Introduction of our new commissioner Robert Wallach who is representing District 2 in southeastern New Mexico

Los Alamos Teen Center Director Michelangelo Lobato will speak to local Kiwanians about a recent youth trip to Israel at noon today, Nov. 13, at the Masonic Temple.

The meeting is open to the public.

Kiwanis meets each Tuesday, noon to 1 p.m., at the Masonic Temple on Sage Street, near the intersection of 15th Street and Canyon Road.

10 hard boiled eggs, peeled
Soaked wood chips
Charcoal grill
1/3 cup mayonnaise
¼ cup finally chopped onions
¼ cup cooked crumbled bacon
1 to 1 ½ tablespoons red Sriracha Rooster Sauce or to taste

Soak the wood chips in water for about ½ hour and then drain. I do this in a plastic bag, I just find it easier. Cook the charcoal in the grill until they get a light coat of gray. Move all of the briquettes to one side of the grill. Read More

Shrinking Horizons: Help Preserve Indigenous Human Societies in SFI’s First Crowdfunding Campaign

Working with the SciFund Challenge, SFI has joined other scientists and science research centers in this emerging, social-networked way to generate financial backing for critical scientific research. The campaign runs through Dec. 15.
