Letter to the Editor: Support New Mexico Airlines!

LEON AND ROSALIE HELLER
Los Alamos

LANL (Los Alamos National Laboratory) may not give preferred carrier status to New Mexico Airlines, but we certainly do.

When it comes to a choice between driving to and from Albuquerque or taking a 20 minute beautiful flight from Los Alamos right to the airport, we prefer flying every time. It’s a convenient, scenic and enjoyable way to travel compared with a two hour drive, shuttle bus, tips and parking fees.

We urge residents to support this great facility.

Letter to the Editor: Am I My Brother’s Keeper?

Am I My Brother’s Keeper?

By CATHY WIGET KING
Los Alamos

I’ve been proud to be an American all my life, except for the past 15 years or so. I watched speechless as we legalized abortion, the most heinous crime against humanity ever conceived in my opinion.

Instead of raising our children to abstain from sexual behaviors until they are married, sex is seen as cheap—and I do mean cheap—entertainment. The sacred nature of married love and family life has fallen by the wayside as marriages break up (because, oh gee, we aren’t in love anymore), and children self-medicate with

Yang: The Marshmallow Problem & The Candle Problem

The Marshmallow Problem & The Candle Problem
By ELENA YANG

Being part of a team-building exercise or being tested … both exercises drive me bonkers. However, a well-designed test/problem, with a convincing structure and valuable conclusions, intrigues me. When I learned about the Marshmallow Problem (link below), I was immediately reminded of the Candle Problem (link below). I learned both from TED talks.

In Tom Wuject’s presentation on the Marshmallow Problem (MP), he emphasizes the context of collaboration in solving the MP, and in Dan Pink’s illustration of the Candle Problem Read More
