Carolyn Torres is surrounded by her Chamisa Elementary School third grade students at a surprise assembly this morning at which Superintendent Gene Schmidt made the exciting announcement that Torres has been named New Mexico Teacher of the Year. Torres was named Los Alamos Teacher of the Year in May and now becomes the New Mexico nominee for National Teacher of the Year.
