Funding for LAMS Speech and Debate Team Draws Crowd to Tuesday’s School Board Meeting
Members of the Hawk Talkers Middle School Speech and Debate Team and their supporters packed Tuesday’s School Board Meeting to ask the Los Alamos School Board for help in paying for travel to tournaments. They currently have no funding and are therefore unable to compete. The Los Alamos Hill Talkers High School team has been helping them with funds, but the LAMS program has become so successful (around 90 students are involved) they need $3,000-$7,000 to travel to competitions. Although sports teams at Los Alamos Middle School have a travel budget, this popular activity does not. PhotoLetter to the Editor: Israel The Nation Is Not Judaism The Faith
KHALIL SPENCERValarie Harris has attacked me and my letter, which is certainly her right, just as it is my right to criticize young men for volunteering to join various Middle Eastern military or terrorist organizations when it is apparent that neither military force nor terrorism have a ghost of a chance of solving the problems endemic to the region for the last half century.
Indeed, Mr. Miller’s request was for equipment that would be used as his unit marches off towards Gaza, which is the latest scene of violence and devastation in a region long used to senseless acts of tit for Read More

Homecoming! … 50th Reunion of LAHS Class of ’64
Rick Nebel’s ‘55 Chevy ‘stealth truck’ is totally outrageous under the hood sporting a 6-71 supercharger with two Holley 4-barrel carburetors, 18-inch-wide rear tires and noisy side pipes. Well maybe the ‘stealth’ concept didn’t work out real well, but it’ll be playin’ the American Graffiti soundtrack Sept. 19 as a very spectacular member of the Class of ’64 Homecoming Parade entry – Go Toppers!
