Meet Los Alamos artist Fran Stoval:

Fran Stoval, Looking Back and Stepping Forward

When I was a little girl, drawing was my passion in life. Paradise was staying with my Aunt Lillian, where art materials and projects were all around. I started my career working as an illustrator for a public TV station in Ogden, Utah while training in graphic arts at Weber State College.

Moving to New Mexico I worked for many years as an illustrator for Los Alamos Technical Associates before finally turning my attention full time creating fine art. I have worked in oils and studied pastel painting techniques at the University of New Mexico and took many workshops. I am now a proud signature member of the Pastel Society of New Mexico. I took a workshop at the Fuller Lodge Art Center in Stained Glass and fell in love with the art form.

I have now been teaching stained glass for over 15 years. I am very proud to see many of my students become accomplished artists. My stained glass classes start in October at the Fuller Lodge Art Center. I will post the schedule on my website www.franstoval.com, when it becomes available.

I participated in the Los Alamos Studio Tour in 1996, 97, and 98. On Oct. 11 and 12 of this year, I will once again open my studio.  I will be demonstrating my three favorite forms of art, Stained Glass, Mosaics and Pastels.
