BUSINESS News:

Los Alamos Business Incubation (LABi) is using Los Alamos ScienceFest as a platform to introduce the LABi Tech Army© to the Los Alamos community.

The LABi Tech Army© is a growing group of local and national scientists, engineers, technologists and other individuals who will serve to help mentor entrepreneurs and help them create successful businesses. These enterprises, typically, are based on Intellectual Property (IP) developed by individuals – members of the LABi Tech Army© and other entrepreneurs, both local and national – as well as the national laboratories, and other research institutions.

The LABi approach recognizes that most entrepreneurs, and the probability of success of their endeavors, will benefit greatly from a mentoring/coaching-heavy approach – real incubation that is personal-contact intensive – combined with the development of teams of individuals to cover all aspects of the entrepreneurial process; individuals with relevant talents and experience to fill-in and expand the experience- and knowledge-base of the team; typically, for areas where the original entrepreneur does not have the time or relevant talents to do that part of the work.

While members of the LABi Tech Army© may work as volunteers if that is their preference, typically their work will provide them a stake in the projects/companies they interact with. They will, in turn, benefit from the revenues generated when these endeavors are a success.

Anyone interested in taking part in the LABi Tech Army© is invited to drop by LABi’s booth at Los Alamos ScienceFest Saturday near the ScienceFest information booth at Ashley Pond Park. You’ll be asked to provide some basic contact information and may ask any questions you have without any commitment. With permission, LABi will contact you later for a more detailed discussion to better understand your interest level and areas of experience and include you in its database. When relevant projects come up, they will contact you to see if you want to join in.

LABi also is looking to sign-up affiliates who will provide more conventional services to the businesses developed through its process. If interested, stop by the booth as well and provide information about you and your company.
