Los Alamos Arts Council: Annual Scarecrow Contest

LAAC News:

Los Alamos Arts Council (LAAC) announces the Annual Scarecrow Contest, sponsored by Los Alamos MainStreet and Creative District.

This year, LAAC requests that all Scarecrows fit within the theme of “Movie Monsters”.

The display goes on display Oct. 10 through Nov. 1.

Applications are available at https://losalamosartscouncil.org/scarecrow-contest/ or inside Fuller Lodge Art Center. Families, organizations and businesses are all encouraged to submit entries.

Completed applications and a $20 entry fee (cash or check made out to Los Alamos Arts Council) can be dropped off Sept. 25 through Oct. 9 at the front desk of Fuller Lodge Art Center.

Participants also may bring their application along with their Scarecrow 10 a.m. 4 p.m., Oct. 10, to Fuller Lodge Art Center for pole assignment.

Scarecrows may not be dropped off at the Los Alamos Arts Council office, MainStreet or Creative District office.

Participants who cannot stop by for a pole assignment at the designated time may call 505.662.1635 or contact laarts@rt66.com to make arrangements.

Community members are invited to start voting for “Fan Favorite” Oct. 10 through Oct. 31 at Fuller Lodge Art Center or online. The online voting is not yet available. The winning entry in “Fan Favorite,” as well as four others, will receive $70 in Chamber Checks – sponsored by Los Alamos MainStreet and the Creative District – and redeemable at dozens of local businesses.

Official judges from multiple local organizations will look at all Scarecrows and give points for originality, creativity and construction. The winner will be announced online by 6 p.m. Oct. 31.
