Senators Introduce Bill To Establish Microlabs

U.S. SENATE News:

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U. S. Senators Martin Heinrich, D-N.M. and Cory Gardner, R-Colo., members of the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources, introduced S. 784, the Microlab Technology Commercialization Act, a bill to accelerate technology transfer by establishing off-campus microlabs that would serve as the “front-door” to national laboratories.

The microlabs would give academia, local government, businesses owners, and communities direct access to equipment, facilities, and personnel of national laboratories.

Los Alamos Rotary Contingent To Visit Juarez, Mexico; Asking For Community’s Help

A contingent from the Los Alamos Rotary STARS (Service to All Rotary Satellite) will travel to Juarez, Mexico next weekend to visit a children’s hospital and community center the group is supporting through a joint project with the Camino Real Rotary Club of El Paso.

Members of the STARS group are asking community members to help by donating much-needed items they can take with and distribute to those in need during this visit.

FBI Alert: Woman Robs NMB&T In Albuquerque

FBI Alert:

The FBI and Albuquerque Police Department are looking for a woman who robbed New Mexico Bank & Trust at 3701 4th St. NW Monday, March 16.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic female with a light complexion and reddish brown hair cut with bangs. She is approximately 35-40 years old, about 5’2” to 5’4” tall, and weighs 145-150 pounds.

The woman has crooked teeth, scars on her face and tattoos on her neck and left arm. She wore eyeglasses, a gray tank top, tight blue jeans, and a rosary of white beads around her neck with a key ring at the bottom of it.

Bandelier Centennial Logo Deadline Extended

A few weeks ago Bandelier National Monument sent out a call to artists to submit entries for the logo for the park’s Centennial Celebration. The deadline for entries has now been extended to Thursday, March 26.

SANTA FE—Today, Gov. Susana Martinez signed legislation to improve efficiency and cost savings for taxpayers and local governments in property tax correspondence.

House Bill 49, sponsored by Rep. Bob Wooley, R-Roswell, allows for email correspondence between taxpayers and their county assessors and treasurers instead of first class mail. This will help taxpayers and counties save money on postage, as well as reduce the time taxpayers need to respond to notices.
