IRVING V JOHNSON 1924 – 2015

Born in Havre, Montana in 1924, Irving V Johnson learned to work leather at a saddle shop as a young man.

In 1943, at age 19, he joined the Navy and was assigned to Combat Aircraft Service Unit (Forward) 9 during World War II. Irving used many skills from the saddle shop as a Parachute Rigger; he was responsible for preparing parachutes and repairing the cloth wings of combat aircraft.

The chukar partridge or chukar (Alectoris chukar), a Eurasian upland gamebird in the pheasant family Phasianidae, was sighted Monday on Bathtub Row in downtown Los Alamos. Reports also have surfaced that the rare sighting of this bird has occurred in recent days around Oppenheimer Place.

Triath-A-Toddle FUNdraiser April 18

FSN News:

The Triath-a-Toddle is a FUNdraiser for Family Strengths Network (FSN) set for 10 a.m. to noon April 18 at the Pueblo Complex.

Bring kids (ages 1-5) to the first ever Triath-a-Toddle, which includes giant bowling, a trike course, slides and much more to keep the kiddos running around all morning. There will be snacks for all participants, along with a bake sale.

In the manor of a triathlon, participants are asked to get at least $10 in sponsorship. Contact FSN if this is a hardship.

The Los Alamos High School FIRST Robotics Team 4153 competed with is robot “Fermi” in the Hub City Regionals this past weekend and made it all the way to the elimination rounds.

I like to think that if I were a public figure, I would recognize myself as being target-rich, and for my own protection I would develop a higher sense of self-awareness so that I wouldn’t trip on my own hubris.
