STAFF REPORT:

Watch Video here. Los Alamos County Councilor Susan O’Leary spoke about the importance of developing and implementing a communication strategy between the Council and the community during an interview this afternoon with publisher Carol A. Clark at the Los Alamos Daily Post.

O’Leary discussed three areas that she would like to see Council communicate more clearly with the community:

  • Strategic goals and how they’ll be achieved so that citizens are informed about the future direction of their community;
  • Performance measurements that educate citizens about how their government is operating; and
  • Information that explains how tax dollars are spent.

The topic of a Council communiction strategy was discussed at the Council Work Session March 24 in White Rock and is on the agenda for Tuesday’s regular Council meeting at 7 p.m. in Council Chambers.

At Tuesday’s meeting, Council will review current practices at Los Alamos County and focus on communication of the topics listed above. Community members are invited to speak on this topic during public comment.
