Tom Gattis of Los Alamos is a singer/guitarist for the heavy/power metal band Wardog. He just announced the release of the band’s song “Clouds Of Magellan” (sung in Klingon).

Details For Nature Center Grand Opening April 22

The public is invited to join the Los Alamos County Council, Pajarito Environmental Education Center (PEEC), and the Art in Public Places Board for the grand opening of the new Nature Center on Earth Day.

SANTA FE – Strong spring winds on the Santa Fe National Forest are likely to increase risks from falling trees. 

Visitors to the Santa Fe National Forest are urged to use extra caution during recreation activities, especially in areas that have been severely burned by wildfire.

The Los Alamos Hilltalkers Speech and Debate team will hold a bake sale fundraiser 3-6 p.m., Friday in the lobby of Los Alamos National Bank at 1200 Trinity Dr.

The high school speech and debate team will be accepting donations in exchange for homemade treats including brownies, cookies, breads and cakes. Baked goods will be available in small portions, as well as whole cakes and loaves.

Phi Beta Kappa is the oldest undergraduate honor society in the United States and has about 230 members in Los Alamos County (1.3 percent of the county’s population). As a snowbird fleeing the ravages of the northern winter, I continued south. My next stop in Central America was the comfortable and copacetic colonial city of León in Nicaragua, and I was definitely into “shorts and T-shirt country”.

Charles B. Bunch was born in Los Alamos in 1951 and passed away in Vancouver, Wash., on April 3, 2015.

Charlie graduated from Los Alamos High School in 1969.
