The Los Alamos Tennis Club’s 3.5 Men’s 18+ team improved its 2015 record in the Northern New Mexico US Tennis Association League to 5-0 with wins Sunday, Saturday and April 4.
In matches played Sunday at the Shellaberger Tennis Center in Santa Fe, the LATC team prevailed 4-1. In number 1 singles, Todd Rodencal defeated his opponent 7-6, 6-1. In number 2 doubles, Chris Lee defeated the Shellaberger player 6-4, 6-1.
Playing at number 1 doubles, the LATC team of John Sarracino and Hoon Taek Chung lost to the Shellaberger team in three sets, 1-6, 7-5, 0-1. At number 2 doubles, John Charles and his partner Don Dry won with the score of 6-3, 6-2. Finally, at number 3 doubles, LATC captain Joel Williams and his partner Shuh-Rong Chen defeated the Shellaberger team 6-0, 6-2.
Yesterday in matches played at Urban Park, the LATC team prevailed 3-2 against a team from the High Point Sports and Wellness Club in Albuquerque. At number 1 singles, Geoff Mills was defeated in a close match by the High Point player 4-6, 4-6. At number 2 singles, Todd Rodencal defeated his opponent in an exciting match by a soccer 6-1, 6-3. The score does not indicate how competitive the match was.
In the number 1 doubles match, Shuh-Rong Chen and his partner Yu Seung Kim defeated their opponents 6-0, 6-0. At the number 2 doubles, the LATC team if Harry Majors and Xianzhu Tang were defeated in three sets in another close match by the High Point team 7-6, 5-7, 0-1. The number 3 doubles match was forfeited by High Point, giving the LATC team the overall win.
Finally, in matches played at Urban Park April 4, the LATC team defeated a team from the Tanoan Country Club in Albuquerque 5-0. In number 1 singles, Todd Rodencal defeated his opponent 7-5, 6-3. Number two singles was not contested by the Tanoan team, resulting in a win by forfeit for LATC.
At number one doubles, Chris Lee and his partner Geoffrey Mills won 7-5, 6-2. In the number two doubles match, John Charles and Xianzhu Tang defeated the Tanoan team 6-2, 6-3. In the number 3 doubles match, Shuh-Rong Chen and Yu Seung Kim quickly won by the score of 6-0, 6-1.
The Los Alamos Tennis Club 3.5 Men’s 18+ team is captained by Joel Williams. The team plays in the United States Tennis Association 3.5 18+ league in the Northern New Mexico District. For more information, contact team captain Joel Williams.
