Tuba Choir Performs Carols Saturday
MUSIC News:
Nothing says Christmas quite like the sound of a choir performing carols. This choir happens to be composed of tubas and euphoniums.
The group came together in 2002, and has played at various venues throughout Los Alamos every holiday season since.
The choir is made up of a core of adult musicians from other groups in Los Alamos (Big Band, Symphony and others), and is augmented by talented high school students. They play an eclectic mix of arrangements specifically created for a tuba choir.

DENNIS D. SIMMONDS Dec. 9, 2015
Dennis D. Simmonds, 80, a resident of Los Alamos, passed away on Wednesday, December 9, 2015. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ivan and Effa Simmonds and infant daughter, Suzanne.
Dennis was an expert woodworker and a multi-skilled craftsman. He was a pioneer in the computing era. He enjoyed his church choir, men’s group and breakfast at Violas. He came to Los Alamos in 1957 where he worked a 35 year career. He wrote hydrodynamics codes, designed a Linear Accelerator and implemented network engineering and computer security. It is that time of year again when we all reach out to help those in need. This year, along with the Pajarito Brew Pub and Grill, I will be hosting my 3rd annual, “Play It Forward” event.

United Church Thrift Shop Closed Dec. 23 & Dec. 30

The United Church Thrift Shop, operated by the Women’s Christian Service Society, is typically open for shoppers 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Wednesdays, however it will be closed Dec. 23 for the Christmas holiday and Dec. 30 for New Year’s.
The United Thrift Shop accepts donations of gently used and clean clothes, linens, housewares, jewelry, shoes, toys and children’s books, but does not accept large appliances, furniture, books or VHS tapes. Donations may be dropped off any time at the bins near the door at the lower level of Craig Hall.

The crowd takes off in Sunday’s Jingle Bell Rock ‘N Run hosted by the Los Alamos High School Band to raise money for their upcoming trip to Washington, D.C.
