Los Alamos County Councilors responded during Tuesday night’s meeting to the resignation of Probate Judge Bill McKerley.
McKerley wrote a letter dated May 19, 2016 to Council Chair Rick Reiss that his resignation will be effective upon appointment of a replacement. McKerley was appointed to the position Feb. 16 after Probate Judge Chris Chandler resigned.
McKerley stated in his letter that he had recently been informed by the County Attorney that he had a conflict of interest under the State’s Code of Conduct, which prohibits political involvement for even part-time probate Read More

May 18 at 5:47 a.m. / Police arrested James Carpenter, 30, of Jemez Springs near 44th Street and Urban on an outstanding Magistrate Court warrant.

May 19 at 3:10 p.m. / Police arrested Concha Herrera, 37, of Truchas at 2500 Trinity Dr., and charged her with shoplifting. The estimated loss is more than $250.

The Los Alamos Police Department reminds motorists and citizens that Saturday May 28 is the annual Senior Appreciation Night.
This means that recent graduates will enjoy a night of festivities in the downtown area especially around Ashley Pond Park, the YMCA on 15th Street and Reel Deal Theater. Activities are scheduled 6 p.m. Saturday through 3 a.m. Sunday.
