Nora Scott, graduating with the 2016 senior class of Los Alamos High School, will perform a voice recital at 1 p.m. Friday at Fuller Lodge. 

Scott was a member of Los Alamos High School premier choir Schola Cantorum that has performed at the Lincoln Center and throughout Europe. She also has taken voice lessons from Alicia Solomon for the past two years.

Well how about that? Another complete strike out for our dutiful county council. Except for the one member that voted against this move to transfer the Sheriff’s duties to the LAPD, our council has proven that they have no hind sight nor forward thinking abilities at all!

Sure they want to investigate why there are law suits being lost and all, but they completely fail to see that biggest issue is the leadership in the LAPD that is doing the things that the county is being sued for.

Police Focus On Accident Related Traffic Violations

LAPD News:

Starting now and continuing through the summer, the Los Alamos Police Department will be conducting traffic enforcement, focusing on accident related violations to include seatbelt enforcement.

The public can help reduce the risk of vehicle crashes by adhering to posted speed limit signs, allowing enough room between them and the vehicle they are following and driving with caution when roadways are wet. Officers also will be on the lookout for impaired drivers for the next few months.

SFNF Issues Order Prohibiting Marijuana

SANTA FE  In order to provide for public health and safety and protect resources, the Santa Fe National Forest issued an order that prohibits possessing, storing or transporting marijuana within Forest boundaries.

State Auditor Finds Chronic Budgetary Shortfalls, Stopgaps At Secretary Of State’s Office

SANTA FE  The New Mexico Office of the State Auditor (OSA) has identified a pattern of chronic budgetary shortfalls related to the state’s election expenses.

Blue Buses Not In Service Memorial Day

The North Central Regional Transit District (NCRTD) has announced that the RTD “Blue Buses” will not be in service Monday, May 30, in observance of the Memorial Day holiday.

New Mexico Receives $3 Million For Foreclosure Legal Assistance For Homeowners

ALBUQUERQUE  New Mexico has received $3.3 million to help provide legal assistance to homeowners facing foreclosure.
 
The money is from a 2014 settlement with Bank of America and its subsidiaries over mortgage practices. Terms of the settlement restrict use of the money to foreclosure prevention legal assistance and community redevelopment. In New Mexico, the money will be awarded to legal aid groups based on grant applications. There are about 5,000 open mortgage foreclosure cases in the state.
