Local Rotary Club Hosts Los Alamos County Clerk Naomi Maestas Speaking On ‘Have A Voting Plan’

“Have a voting plan”, advised Los Alamos County Clerk Naomi Maestas when speaking Sept. 22 to the Rotary Club of Los Alamos via Zoom.

Maestas, who has served in the Clerk’s office since 2005, also urged voters to “bring your patience” as the Clerk’s Office strives to provide safe voting options during the Covid-19 crisis.

The Los Alamos Retired and Senior Organization (LARSO), would like to spotlight, Neighbors Helping Neighbors, as we head toward “Make A Difference Day” Saturday, Oct. 24.

Atomic City Transit announces the reopening of Route 6 – North Mesa beginning Monday, Oct. 5.

SANTA FE – New Mexico state health officials have announced this afternoon 178 additional positive tests for COVID-19.

Los Alamos County remains at 33 cases that have tested positive for COVID-19.

Today’s update includes 2 new deaths related to COVID-19.

Pedestrian Fatally Struck On I-25 In Santa Fe County

NMSP News:

SANTA FE COUNTY – At about 8:50 a.m. Monday, the New Mexico State Police responded to a report of a male pedestrian found deceased on the right shoulder of Interstate 25, near milepost 275 south of Santa Fe.

Upon initial investigation of an eyewitness report, statements and evidence at the scene, the male pedestrian was walking south on Interstate 25 Sunday evening when he was struck by an unknown vehicle that also was traveling south on Interstate 25.

FBI: Española Man Gets 30 Years For Abusing Child

ALBUQUERQUE – Kevin Vigil, 54, of Española was sentenced to 30 years in prison Sept. 22 for sexually abusing a 6-year-old child.

A federal jury in Santa Fe returned a guilty verdict against Vigil Aug. 23, 2019, following a five-day trial before U.S. District Judge Martha Vazquez.

The minor victim and the victim’s parents had been visiting Vigil at his home within the exterior boundaries of Ohkay Owingeh tribal lands on the evening of Feb. 3, 2018 and spent the night there.

New Mexico Absentee Ballot Count By Party As Of 9-29

This data represents the total number of absentee ballot requests received as of 8:30 a.m. today in New Mexico, as furnished by the Office of the New Mexico Secretary of State.

Daily updates about these absentee ballot requests will be published until Oct. 6 when the data will be adjusted to reflect vote counts instead (absentee, early in-person and Election Day).
