Library Hosts ‘Every Child Ready to Read’ Workshop

Talking, singing, reading, writing and playing: Fun and simple steps to help get every child ready to read @ your library.

United Way of Northern New Mexico (UWNNM) is accepting grant applications beginning today and running through 5 p.m. March 28.
To apply for a UWNNM grant, organizations must meet all of the following criteria:
• Nonprofit 501(c)(3) status
• Serving Los Alamos and/or Rio Arriba counties
• Impact one of the four focus areas: Nurturing Children & Youth, Strengthening Families, Improving Health & Healing, Enriching the Lives of our Seniors

First Person Accounts of Los Alamos Residents Sought
n honor of its 100th year of statehood, the New Mexico Museum of History is requesting first-person accounts of life in 2012.
Los Alamos residents are invited to write a letter about:
- Where you live and what you do
- What worries you
- What give you hope
- What makes NM your home place and your heart place
The letters will be saved for future historians.

The Governor’s Awards for Excellence in the Arts is looking for nominations – and they need Los Alamos nominations!
Categories include individuals and organizations, and can be any affiliation – artists, donors, supporters, patrons, writers, photographers, educators, whatever.
The Governor’s Arts Awards were established in 1974 by Governor Bruce King and First Lady Alice King to honor New Mexicans who have made a significant lifetime contribution to the arts and are identified with New Mexico.
