Los Alamos Company To Pitch At ABQid Ski Lift Pitch Competition

Local entrepreneurs Nicholas Seet and Gary Xie will be pitching investors as they ride the Taos Ski Valley ski lift in the annual ABQid Ski Lift Pitch Contest, Feb. 20 in Taos.

The entrepreneurs will pitch investors from around the country for a chance to win $10,000 in non-dilutive capital.  

They will pitch Seet’s company Ener.com, a technology company that places cooling tubes behind solar PV panels in order to improve the performance of the panels, extend their operating life, and simultaneously generate perfectly clean water.

100 Men Who Care Meets At UNM-Los Alamos Thursday

100 Men Who Care Los Alamos will hold its next event to consider funding for three local nonprofits 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6 at UNM-Los Alamos.

The group will select one of the three nonprofits, which will receive $100 from each 100 Men Who Care member.

At last quarter’s meeting, Los Alamos Family Council received $3,000 to support family counseling services and youth suicide prevention. Previous recipients include LA Cares and Self Help, which received a combined total of $8,700.

DNCU’s Scholarship Application Cycle For 2020-21 Now Open

SANTA FE — Del Norte Credit Union (DNCU), New Mexico’s hometown financial cooperative announces the opening of its 2020-21 DNCU Scholarship Program.

The program is celebrating its 10th anniversary and has helped more than 80 deserving local students with a combined $84,000 in scholarship funds. Ten exemplary students will be awarded with $1,000 each toward their education at a college or vocational school of their choice.

New Show ‘Inside Arts’ Begins Airing On PAC 8 Feb. 16

Los Alamos Museum of Art and PAC 8 Community Media Center have teamed up and produced a series of recordings featuring regional artists, musicians and collectors.

The new show, called Inside Arts will begin airing Feb. 16 and will air weekly at 8:30 p.m. Sundays, 4 p.m. Tuesdays and 8 p.m. Thursdays on Cable Channel 8 in Los Alamos.

The shows feature T.K Thompson, Karen Wray, Robert Wells, Ken Hanson, The Hot Flashes, Ruth Williamson and Petr and Louise Jandacek. Other productions are underway.

Franz Schubert was born Jan. 31, 1797. In the grand tradition of “Schubertiade”, Claire Detels, piano; and Mark Jackson, baritone; will present several Schubert pieces at noon Wednesday in Fuller Lodge.

The Living Treasures of Los Alamos Board has selected three Treasures for 2020 including Linda Burns, Don Casperson and Lois Eddleman.

This year, nominees will be honored at 2 p.m., April 26 at the Betty Ehart Senior Center.

The Living Treasures of Los Alamos will celebrate its 21st anniversary, continuing the 1999 vision of Rosalie Heller and Karen Nilsson Brandt.
