Los Alamos Company To Pitch At ABQid Ski Lift Pitch Competition

By NICHOLAS SEET

Local entrepreneurs Nicholas Seet and Gary Xie will be pitching investors as they ride the Taos Ski Valley ski lift in the annual ABQid Ski Lift Pitch Contest, Feb. 20 in Taos.

The entrepreneurs will pitch investors from around the country for a chance to win $10,000 in non-dilutive capital.

They will pitch Seet’s company Ener.com, a technology company that places cooling tubes behind solar PV panels in order to improve the performance of the panels, extend their operating life, and simultaneously generate perfectly clean water.

“Our company, Ener.com, solves three problems,” Seet said. “As the world warms and dries, we will need more clean water to use and drink. We take any water like sea-water or run-off and, using the waste heat from the PV, distill it to 99.99% pure water. And, as humankind moves away from fossil-fuels, one of the best options is renewable solar PV, which our technology improves the performance and life span of. Finally, there is a negative effect associated with solar panel deployments called “heat island” or PVHI, which increases local temperatures, and our system can negate that.”

Seet is no stranger to business pitches, having won the Rice University Business Plan Competition in 2005, taking home more than $1,100,000 in cash and investments.

“The secret is to practice your pitch,” Seet said. “Practice to yourself, to your pets, to whoever will listen.”

He is looking forward to attending the event and encourages any Los Alamos resident who is interested in starting a business or connecting with investors to come along and listen.
