Staff Report

Two banners belonging to Los Alamos Girl Scout Troop 116, who have worked so hard organizing RocketDay, have gone missing.

Both banners were apparently stolen from the overpass on Diamond Drive, according to a troop spokesperson. The banners were identical and designed by one of the Girl Scouts, a homeschooler, who won the troop banner design contest back in the spring. The banners, promoting RocketDay, were going to be given to her to keep after the event.

Last year, the Bradbury Science Museum set up a booth full of old electronics at the Next Big Idea festival and let kids (both the young and young-at-heart) disassemble and destroy them in the interest of learning how things worked? It was SUPER fun and one of the most popular things the museum has ever done. Well

Letter to the Editor: ‘Face of PEEC’ Has Died

By KATHERINE WATSON
Executive Director of PEEC

To hundreds of locals and visitors, the face of PEEC has long been a smiling boy in an orange sweatshirt looking delightedly at a bird perched in his hand.

This picture sums up everything that PEEC wants to be for the community—a source of joy and delight in nature.

We at PEEC were heartbroken to hear that the model for that joyful picture has passed away. Ryan Pappas’ smile has meant so very much to us for many years. It’s hard to comprehend that he is no longer out in the world, spreading the delight that his smile reflects.
