Governor Breaks Ground On New Healthcare Clinic

Gov. Susana Martinez

ALBUQUERQUE—Gov. Susana Martinez participated in a groundbreaking Tuesday on a new primary care clinic in Albuquerque’s North Valley. University of New Mexico leaders joined Martinez for the groundbreaking.

The 16,000-square-foot facility will be staffed with faculty physicians, residents, nurse practitioners and physicians’ assistants, and will feature about 20 exam rooms, an onsite lab and pharmacy. The new clinic is expected to open in late spring 2015. UNM estimates that when fully operational, it will serve 1,500-1,800 patients per month.

Following the 2014 legislative session, Martinez signed into law several pieces of legislation designed to bolster New Mexico’s healthcare workforce, including expanding residency and nurse practitioner slots at UNM.
